Embracing Digital Transformation: Kenya Women Microfinance Bank

By facilitating the transition from a primarily on-premise to a fully cloud environment, Cloud IT worked with Kenya Women Microfinance Bank to maximize productivity while significantly cutting down on operational costs.

The challenge

The previous email system required a lot of maintenance by the IT team. To access the email, one had to be using the enabled computers on-premise, which in itself was a large investment. Security
was also a challenge. For example, login data was stored in plain text – a major security risk. Finally, it was tasking to set up meetings, with no way to collaborate or backup information easily.

The solution

First, we created a Google Workspace account for each team member. Then, we migrated all the data they required from their previous system to the new system. Afterward, we gave them in-depth training about how to use the various apps in Google Workspace. In this, we also explained how best they work together. Finally, we maintained 24/7 support during the transition and beyond.

The results

Operational costs reduced because all the apps used for work were now in the same suite, with much fewer IT incidents. There were also no upfront costs. Also, it was easy to assign work on documents,
which sped up the process. Finally, by enabling checking colleagues’ calendars, and automating meeting invites and confirmations, it was far easier to hold meetings, even remotely, with Google Meet.

"It changes the culture of work, because work has become less formal and more productive."
